      Is yoga and pilates the same?

      Pilates and yoga are both low-impact exercises, but there is a significant distinction between the two. During a yoga session, you usually take up a position and hold it, or you flow into another position. In Pilates, you take a stance and then move your arms or legs to stress your core.

      Pilates:

      Joseph Pilates created Pilates near the conclusion of World War I. It was mainly utilized for the rehabilitation of injured soldiers. In 1923, Pilates introduced his system to the country and spent years honing it.
      Pilates may:

      • Increase muscle strength and endurance
      • Improve flexibility and posture
      • Lead to better balance
      • Result in decreased joint pain

      Yoga:

      Yoga’s precise ancestry is unknown. However, it has existed for at least the last 3,000 years. Shamanism, Buddhism, and other Eastern religions are the sources of yoga. It is based on the following five principles:

      • Proper relaxation
      • Exercise
      • Breathing
      • Diet
      • Positive thinking and meditation
