Who founded yoga?
Yoga originated from the Indus-Sarasvati civilization in Northern India over 5000 years earlier. The term Yoga was first introduced in Rigveda. The founder of Yoga is Patanjali. He is attributed to be the author of the first text on yoga, The Yoga Sutras. Patanjali Yoga Sutra is the historic and first guide on yoga. It is concluded to have been composed more than 2000 years ago. Swami Vivekananda, the great Indian philosopher, brought out his work “Raja Yoga” in 1896. It was found in “The Yoga Sutras” of Patanjali.
