Why is Yoga Important? | What is the true meaning of Yoga?
The uniform exercise of yoga originates from mental clarity and calmness. The ideal goal of yoga is to help the single to excel in the self and achieve enlightenment. Yoga is not a religion; it is the way of living that aims towards a healthy mind in a healthy body.’ It helps manage stress and anxiety and keeps you relaxed. Its goal is to achieve this through a series of physical and mental exercises. At the physical level, the methods comprise various yoga postures or ‘Asanas’ that aim to keep the body healthy. The mental techniques include breathing exercises or ‘Pranayama’ and ‘Meditation’ or ‘Dhyana’ to discipline the mind. Yoga helps in improving flexibility, strength, and stamina. It reduces stress and anxiety and helps in improving sleep and mental clarity.

The true meaning of yoga is “Self Realization”. Yoga originated from the Sanskrit word “Yuj” which means “to unite”. It is the union between mind and body. In yoga, there are various types of practices in which you switch your body in various postures called asanas.
